What is an Impactful Organization?

As a small business owner with a background in nonprofit work, my mission is to help both types of organizations thrive.

You see, small businesses are the backbone of the U.S. economy and are vital to local economies. Small businesses are often founded and run by families who need a way to support their livelihoods and create generational wealth. Small businesses reinvest much of their income locally, strengthening their communities.

Similarly, most nonprofits operate at the local level, providing essential services for their communities. Nonprofits operate primarily through generous charitable contributions by members of the local community, many of whom are small business owners.

I love small businesses, nonprofits, and the connection between the two types of organizations. As I was defining the mission and target audience for Embellished Brands, I realized that my heart desires to see more positive change in the world, and the way that I can help facilitate more of that is by intentionally working with both for-profit and nonprofit organizations making an impact.

Simply put, an impactful organization is a small business or nonprofit doing work that matters by bringing positive change to the world. This could be:

  • A business or nonprofit creating an environment in which its team members are empowered to use their God-given talents and expertise for the benefit of others.

  • A small family business building generational impact through breaking cycles and generating wealth.

  • A business or nonprofit investing time, talent, and financial resources into their community.

  • A mission-driven organization creating change locally, then expanding its impact nationally or globally.
