Stepping Back To Move Forward

Brightly colored confetti, party hats, and balloons arranged in a circle around the words: "Stepping Back to Move Forward, Reflecting on 12 Years in Business"

August 2026 was the 12th anniversary of Embellished Brands. While I didn't publicly mark the occasion, I sensed that it was time to take a step back to do some serious reflection and reorientation about this company and the services and resources that I've offered.

In essence, I did a brand audit to check in and evaluate what's working and what's not, and I realized that my messaging needed to be overhauled. Some of it was speaking to a previous version of my audience, and other parts didn't offer enough clarity around how I help nonprofit and small business brands stand out.

As such, this is the first email you've received from me in awhile. If you follow along on social media, there has been a definite lack of business-related posts—EB social media has essentially been a Talk Branding To Me fan account 😅—but that will change shortly.

I'm not going to lie: the past couple of years have thrown a lot at business owners. With constant economic and political changes, shifting consumer habits, increased adoption of AI, and more—there's no shortage of new challenges facing small business owners and nonprofit leaders today. You've probably had a similar experience.

Embellished Brands isn't going anywhere, but how it moves forward may flex as I figure out what branding and marketing strategies work best in the current climate. (BTW, you've got a front row seat to watch in real time by following along via email or on social media.)

That got me thinking about all of you, too. Answer honestly: when's the last time you audited your brand?

The worst thing you can do for your brand is “set it and forget it.” Your brand is an ever-evolving entity that requires active oversight, or what I like to call brand stewardship.

12 years in, here's what I know for sure: No two brands are alike.

There isn't a cookie-cutter branding solution. That's why I've designed my branding service pathway to guide you from brand confusion to confidence in the way that makes the most sense for your organization.

If you're also recognizing that the landscape is changing for your organization but aren't sure how to respond, I'd love to help you figure out your strategy.

Whenever you're ready, I'm here.
